| - This is a fun place! They have a great variety of beers, and more interestingly, a great variety of meads and ciders as well. The bartenders are knowledgeable and can give helpful recommendations. They have a big open layout with large tables, so it would be a fun place to visit as a group. At 8ish on a Saturday evening, it was surprisingly not very crowded-- not empty enough to be weird, but also quiet enough to hold a conversation.
I tried the sour, which didn't sit well for me but had an interesting flavor, as well as the IPA, which was delicious. It had a lot of body for an IPA and a clearly a lot of finishing hops as well. My husband tried two of the meads and really enjoyed both of them. I tasted the "The Guardian Batch Zero Strong Mead" and while it definitely lives up to its name in the strength department, both in flavor and in a 16.9% ABV, the maple bourbon barrel provides a great flavor. Their menu includes what glass it's served in, ABV, IBU, and how many ounces in a serving, which is helpful.
They have a limited food menu (barbecue sandwiches from the nearby Mr. Brisket and some snacks), but they allow outside food as well. They occasionally host a food truck, too. It looks like they have space for live music, and if you're looking for additional entertainment, there are pinball machines and a radio at the bar if you want to be old-school and listen to the Tribe games.
My only complaint is the lack of a tasting menu-- it would be nice to be able to sample smaller portions instead of ordering a whole glass of things (although maybe this is an off-menu option I just don't know about). This is definitely a good spot in one of my favorite neighborhoods, so I'm sure I'll be back!
