Hit or miss. So today I went in because my car was having problems with the battery & acting sluggish. I barely make it in, my truck dies as soon as I pull up. I just replaced the battery two months ago in July so I knew I was under warranty with the battery. Anyways the gentleman in the service drive directs me to talk to a service advisor. I work in the car industry as well so I under stand each wing is its own entity. I walk to the service advisor and I tell him to please check if the battery is bad, I just replaced it and need it tested. His name was Jason Bowser. We banter back and forth and at this point he is pushing almost forcing me to do a diagnosis because he said he can't touch the car until I pay $150 for a diagnosis, I understand you have to up sell and make money but the way he did it was so despicable and he treated me with such distaste I wanted to slap the taste out his mouth. I've been put together by salesmans before but he was raising his voice saying he can't touch the car. Well my battery I purchased from your store quit and I just need it tested since it's under warranty. Any ways he tells me in a rude way "Are you gonna do it or not" why the hell would I pay $150 for you to tell me my battery is bad? It's free to test anywhere even autozone! But I unfortunately bought my battery from auto nation Toyota. I can't believe this douchebag wants to charge me $150 to diagnose first when all I need was to check if my battery was bad. He was trying to say He needs a diag because it could be the battery or the alternator. Anyways I walk to parts pissed off because Jason was trying to put me together. I then am greeted by Kevin in parts. I let him know of my problem & he told me you should ask the service writer they should be able to test for you. I let him know that Jason was going to charge me to plug in a machine to see if my battery was bad. He said they're not supposed to do that and I thought the same because my battery is in warranty. So Kevin walks out with me & grabs the battery tester. I don't understand how much grief this can cause somebody like Jason or maybe he wanted to go talk to another customer so he can try and siphon money from the next poor customer who doesn't know any better. Kevin verified that my battery was indeed bad and I did need to replace it as I suspected. So not only was I correct but I am shocked that your employee had the audacity to raise his voice when I just wanted to check since my battery is under my warranty which should of been free. Anyways Kevin was able to lighten the mood and he replaced the battery no questions asked or making me feel like obligated. I can't believe that Jason guy can treat customers like that, I wonder how many people got swindled & taken advantage of by that guy. He belongs on the sales floor not service because he does not know the meaning of customer service. Kevin in parts on the other hand is definitely an asset to your company. To be honest after today's experience I never want to come back to auto nation because I didn't want to be put through so much grief for warranty work, but your employee Kevin was able to show me that maybe I just ran into the one bad apple at your dealership and that just cause your one employee is deplorable, it shouldn't reflect your dealership image as a whole because I did feel welcomed again when Kevin helped me out. If I could re rate this it would be a 5 but I'm giving it a 1 because It cringes me to think how many other people are ripped off by your con man Jason. It sucks because I work at a dealership and at my dealership all my service advisors are well liked and I understand he may be commission but when someone is asking for warranty work that is owed, don't be a douchebag and push a diagnosis because it makes your paycheck fatter, it ruins your brand's (Auto Nation) image.
