  • When my husband chose the most "active" pup in the litter of Jack Russells, I knew we were in for trouble. Doggie daycare, here we come. I searched, tried, interviewed and investigated every facility within commuting distance. By the time I got to Four Paws Dog Retreat, I was wary and distrustful. They changed every bad impression/bad experience I had. Not only is their program and staff unbelievably caring, experienced and supportive, the facilities are clean, well managed and exceptional. My younger Jack, the hyper ball of action, developed liver disease and we almost lost her. Four Paws was instrumental in her outliving her prognosis by two+ years. They watched over her, fed her and gave her her meds as if she were their own. Their kind, experienced staff didn't let her get away with things because of her illness, but gave her the special watchfulness and care she needed. I started bringing my senior Jack, who at sixteen suffered dementia. It built her confidence and helped keep her fit. Both dogs would whine from two miles away. When we moved, we didn't hesitate to leave them both for six weeks while we got settled in our new city. When we picked them up, they were healthy, happy and the senior dog, still going strong in spite of her not remembering her own name. I have no doubt the care, knowledge and affection of Four Paws Dog Retreat Management and Staff are a large part of the reason Darla has outlived her prognosis by 2+ years and counting, why Stella, still muddled but happy at 18 and counting, has the confidence to keep on going. We cannot thank them enough. We tried, sent a big batch of Memphis ribs after we left. But no ribs could fully express our appreciation, gratitude, affection and respect. Do yourself and your pup a favor. Don't fall for webcams and "the legal number of staff." It's off all the major highways, easy to get to. But oh so hard to leave. You and your dog will be very very glad you found Four Paws Dog Retreat and their incredible staff and program.
