  • I came here expecting to be disappointed. I had a traditional Thai massage when I was in Thailand that changed my life. I have been UTTERLY disappointed by the so-called Thai Massages that your hotel spa will offer for over $200 and resolved myself to the fact that I would have to go back to Thailand to get the real thing. Not so much. I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. The facility is tranquil and clean and very conducive to relaxation. I love the fact that you can walk in during business hours without an appointment and be serviced. I opted to get the traditional Thai massage, which they call a Thai Yoga Massage. Your first massage is $50, which is AWESOME. I opted for heavy pressure because I like painful massages. My masseuse did not disappoint and I spent the next 60 minutes in "hurts SO good" bliss. She stretched and pulled in all the right points, got all the pressure points, and walked her unassuming little feet up and down my tired and knotted spine. I may have whimpered a few times and she checked on me constantly to make sure I was ok. The ONLY thing that I didn't get was a full spine crack. At the temple in Bangkok, my masseuse made me kneel and interlock my fingers behind my head. She then wrapped her arms around my elbows, dug her knee into the small of my back, and mercilessly pulled me back over her knee, cracking every vertebrae in my spine. One of the most AMAZING experiences in my life, one that I was eager and hopeful to repeat here. But alas it did not happen. I got some good spine stretching and what I think was a modified version of what I got at the temple (jackasses here probably tried to sue or some bullshit like that) That notwithstanding, I left a new man. So to sum up, you won't get a better Thai massage...as close to the real thing as you're going to get here in Arizona and you CAN'T beat the price. You'll pay three times more at one of the fancy hotel spas for a crap massage. Look no further than Thai Royal Massage. A note to anyone who's never had a Thai massage: this is a lot different from a regular massage. While you will get those pressure points worked on, the emphasis is on stretching and opening up parts of your body, so expect to be pulled and stretched a lot. You'll surprised to discover how many parts of you body desperately need it. Can't wait to come back again and indulge myself.
