  • Just moved to the 'Burgh and was in search of a place to get waxed. (Italian-American...summer...get the picture?). While at MCN Salon (see my review, it's great!) I asked the stylists where to go. Nicolette said Capristo, and literally 4 other girls chimed in with "YES! See Shelly!" Darn straight: Go to Capristo, go to Shelly! Shelly is the most efficient and speedy waxist I have EVER been to. And she's not missing stuff--she got after leg hairs and armpit hairs with tweezers. Really great job. She's a talker, which I enjoyed, as she's quite funny and kept a rolling convo going on (eases the awkwardness of being next to naked in those stupid paper panties). Was generally quite satisfied with the experience and will certainly go back. I only gave 4 stars for 2 reasons: some of my hair has gotten quite fine from the years of waxing (not a myth! this can happen!) and ended up actually just breaking off not getting removed at the follicle. Thus the post-wax smoothness did not last as long as I would have liked. Secondly, it was pricier than I expected: $115 for lower legs, armpits and bikini. There are no discounts or package prices. Also, beware that you can't put a tip on your credit card, so come with cash!
