| - I really want to say that my poor experience at Bartram is due to a shortage of staff or a need for better operational planning/efficiency, but overall, there were just so many little shortcomings about the place. It really feels like a small local bakery that grew too fast.
In general, we had a lot of issues with cleanliness.
When I went to get coffee, the sugar packets were completely hard from either old age or coffee spills/stain. (pretty minor, but again a small indicator. the display shelves below the coffee were very bare/untidy due to lack of attention).
When we got our food, our plates had remnants of previous meals....red stain on an eggs benedict dish? and a piece of cilantro/parsley on my pancake platter??
We also overheard ppl complaining about their tables not being bused.
Now if the food was amazing, I could ignore the operational flaws, but our food was not very good.
I had the maple pecan pancakes, which were realllllly greasy and burnt. So not at all fluffy, as advertised on their menu :( :( :( :( (I LOVE pancakes, so that was reallly really disappointing for me...and my stomach was churning from all the grease for a few hours after lunch).
My husband had the eggs benedict florentine, which were pretty basically meeting the definition of an eggs benedict. The eggs were definitely overcooked and the english muffins were definitely not made fresh in their bakery :(. (We saw the packages for premade Thomas English muffins from the cashier line. )
The baked goods are probably your best bet at this place. Stop by during off-peak hours and take them to-go.
