  • All I wanted was a cup of coffee so I could go home and make breakfast. I came in the back door and had a hard time figuring out where the line started, so I walked around in circles a little before being beckoned up by a cashier. Granted, it was Easter Sunday, but he was the bare minimum of polite. I asked for a small coffee and he showed me the "small" cup and asked if I was sure, since it's pretty darn small. Ok, fine, next size up. The pitcher of half and half was almost empty, and given the charming service I'd just received, I didn't want to ask for it to be refilled, so I stuck a lid on my to-go cup and beat feet. However, I was very glad I'd grabbed a few napkins, since the to-go lid did not have a cap of any kind, and so the coffee splashed out at every bump in the road on the way home, as I held a bunched-up napkin over the slot, hoping I wouldn't burn my fingers. Yuck. Just, yuck. Finally, when I was able to drink my coffee after splashing it all the way home, it was...kind of bitter. The kind of bitterness that I associate with Starbucks' brewed coffee, which is why I don't get it. And as with Starbucks, I don't really understand why it was so bitter -- I've had Colectivo coffee before, and I recall it being excellent. So while it's a beautiful space, given the lousy service and lousier coffee, I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back here. And please, do something about those to-go lids!
