This is a 2nd review b/c my first one provided too much information about my friend's experience instead of mine.
I was happy with Kindred -Sahara while visiting my friend in this hospital. Everything seemed ok. I'm the Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to my friend so I'm closely connected to his happiness and health.
My friend was released from Kindred-Sahara and I discovered that
he had gain 15 pounds in water weight and this was b/c they took him off of his prescribed water pills and did NOT weigh him daily to check his weight.
My friend has congestive heart failure (CHF) and many other chronic conditions. Extra water weight could easily kill him!!!
My friend has a picc line which I flush daily and change his medication bag that is hooked to a continuous pump through his picc line to his heart.
Kindred-Sahara wanted to remove his picc line before they would release him. This is a picc line that his cardiologist placed and it wasn't their business to remove it! He would have needed a new one placed immediately had they gotten their way in removal.
Fortunately, we (my friend and myself) made a huge stink about the situation but during this "discussion" they threatened to call the cops if he went AMA (against medical advice). This is absurd b/c he wouldn't have been breaking any laws by going AMA.
Finally, I got him home but b/c of their lousy care, my friend was back in the ER within 3 days due to the water weight. I was the one who had to call 911 when he collapsed. After a few days in the hospital he had to go back to an acute rehab facility and I didn't select Kindred-Sahara.
This experience was so difficult for me b/c I take care of this man 7 days a week and his well-being is my top priority!
