  • Stole my money and called the police! One of the most important milestones of a man's life is when he chooses his partner in marriage.  It was my turn, i just needed the right diamond for my future bride to be.  After making the appointment with Robert Truver, I found a diamond that day.  It was ~$10k.  Robert did not have the GIA certification in the store, not uncommon as I had been shopping around.  The cert would have to be shipped.  The ETA was less than 1 week so I agreed to put down half of the amount (~5k) as a deposit with the remaining balance to be paid upon arrival of the GIA cert.  A week went by and no contact.  I called Robert and he informed me that he would have it in another week.  After 10 days I called and he informed me that he still did not have it.  I immediately demanded my deposit back.  After much arguing on the phone he agreed to refund me when I stopped back to the store.  I arrived to the store as agreed by the next morning and to my surprise i was greeted with more resistance to refund my deposit. Robert's professionalism was way off, It felt like arguing with a 10 year old that just had their candy taken before bed time.  I informed him again that he did not provide the GIA cert as agreed and I could not validate the authenticity of the purchase.  He asked me to hold on while he went to the back to get the money.  I waited in the front with the other customers and to my surprise the local police arrived at the store. Yes, Robert Truver had called the police.  I informed the police of the situation, and apologized that they had to show up as it was not necessary.  I calmly explained to the police and Robert that he was either going to refund my deposit as agreed or my next stop was going to be to the courthouse to file a law suit and then notification to the BBB, and finally a negative online review.  Robert agreed in front of the police and gave me back everything but $200 dollars. He argued that he should keep 10% because no refunds?  10% of $5k is $500 for those that are doing the math out there.  Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this place at all.  I found a beautiful diamond the next week on blue nile that was the perfect fit, and yes it was GIA certified, and yes she said yes!  I never exposed the hassle of my future wife's first ring purchase to her.
