| - I don't have many skills, but if I have any, picking up heavy objects is one of them... but this is my first Phoenix summer, and this heat has been draining my energy like Kryptonite. That being said, during my recent move, we decided to hire a moving company for the first time in my life.
I called some of the top rated movers on Yelp (One of which didn't bother to call me back), and decided to go with Budget Movers.
The pricing was straight forward and affordable. The owner (Jim) also gave me an estimated amount of time he thought it would take to complete the move based on the information I gave him on the phone. He was spot on by the way. He estimated 4-5 hours and it ended up being exactly 4 hours from start to finish.
The day of the move, they were running a little late, but Jim communicated with me the entire time to let me know what was going on. They only ended up being about 30 min late. It turned out one of the guys scheduled to do the move called out of work.
Jim actually ended up helping with the move himself to make up for it, which I thought was cool. I think it's great when an owner is willing to get dirty in order to make things happen for their customer.
Overall, it was an excellent experience. Jim and Joe were both very friendly which I didn't expect from movers. I guess I had some preconceived idea that they would be giant, grunting goons. Although they were sizeable gents, they were very pleasant and conversational.
I'll never be a fan of the moving process, but at least now with Budget Movers, I know it doesn't have to be the hell I've experienced in the past. And now I can use my saved strength for more important tasks, like eating ice cream.
