This was one of the more positive experiences with Banner Thunderbird Emergency Room experiences.
Pros:
Warm blankets: If you are cold, as for blankets. They come nice and toasty.
Nick at Triage: He gave me 3 face towels to clean up my Zombie Apocalypse look as he coined it. He promptly threw them into the bio-hazardous waste bin. He also hooked me up to a nice pink plastic bucket, a strong nose clamp and a cold pack for my head.
Dr. Lozen: Hilarious. He was warm, friendly and informative.
Registration: The young man who took my registration was thorough and efficient.
Cons:
Long waits: I got there at 3:15 on. Triage at 4 pm. Bed at 6 pm. Discharged at 8 pm.
Unsavory security and patient interactions: A patient had brought in a dog. I wasn't sure if it was a service dog, but it jumped around a lot. The security asked him to control his dog several times, but the patient did not restrain his dog. It was pretty unpleasant to witness.
Tip:
If you are thirsty, drink while you are outside in the waiting area. Once they find you a bed, they limit your water intake.
I am thankful for my great insurance. It made this ER trip less stressful.
