| - I really want this to be a great (or even an above average coffee shop), but alas, it isn't. The coffee's fine, but the service is consistently slow, often very slow. Generally, you'll wait 15-20 minutes for a sandwich or just a simple drink like a latte. Also, they've recently started keeping strange hours. Twice in the last week, I've walked past and seen a piece of paper taped to the door that says "Be back at 4:00." It was just after noon. So, maybe this is an anomaly, but at least recently, the hours here are wonky.
The other issue here is that if you go in the middle of the day to do work, the owner is usually there and wants to talk with you about whatever happens to be on his mind. With me, he's cycled through religion, economics, hiking, topography, and probably about three or four other topics. Despite my refusal to make eye contact and even stating, "Hey, I really have work to do..." the guy just keeps talking to me. So, despite the fact that I live about two blocks from here, I often get in my car and drive to another neighborhood just to have a peaceful place to do work.
But! If you're after decent coffee, really slow service, and a bored guy who wants to engage you in pseudo-intellectual conversations, you've found your place.
