  • Took my family from out of town here to try the whiskey flights. In the end the manager tried to rip us off and our waitress, Brittany, was rude. The prices were outrageous and the staff was not accommodating. I was ashamed of bringing my family there. I will not be recommending this place to any of my friends and family. The manager, Michael, tried to sell us a 1 ounce shot of Jack Daniels Sinatra for $25. The 2 ounce shot they sell is priced at $40. The manager made up his own price of $25 for the 1 ounce shot which should have been no more than $20. We were getting ready to spend over $200 but when the manager tried to over charge us $5 we made our way out. When I confronted him about it he acted like he didn't care, was rude, and decided to change his mind to $20 instead of $25. I told him it was too late because my family was already upset and walking out the door. He didn't even try to apologize and sarcastically told me to have a nice day. These guys make over $500 off a $165 bottle (25 ounces) and you're telling me there was no way he could be generous or hospital to us for a 1ounce pour of fire water!?!? We didn't want a discount, we just didn't want to get ripped off and pay more for less! We had just finished dining at Ri Ra Irish Pub inside Mandalay Bay shops, and got a flight of single malt scotch for $18 and amazing service. We even tried more whiskey after the manager came over and engaged in conversation with us and pointed out some single malts he wanted us to taste! So we were stunned when Michael at Double Helix tried to rip us off right away. If you want reasonably priced whiskey and hospitable service stay away from this place. Worst experience I have EVER had in Las Vegas by far. I have been living here for 8 years and used to work in the Food/Beverage Industry as a bartender/manager. This is their mission statement online too: Double Helix strives to achieve and maintain such distinction in food and wine service and knowledge, delivered professionally in welcoming atmosphere, that the restaurant gains a first class reputation for unique gastronomy, gracious hospitality, comfort and beauty which draws new and repeat customers year after year.
