As far as dog parks go, this one is one of the better parks I've been to in the USA. Dog parks don't usually get a lot of attention and upgrades for one reason or another so this one in comparison is pretty good.
PROS:
1. Large open space with lots of room to run in a safe and secure fenced area
2. Usually pretty busy with dogs so your little pup is going to find friends to play with
3. Picturesque setting with beautiful mountain backdrop
4. Waste bags always available in the area
5. Working water fountain for fresh water for your dog
6. Great place to take your dog for a walk before going in to play
7. Has lights so it's okay to bring your dog at night if you need to (although lights aren't very bright)
8. Public restrooms right across the parking lot
CONS:
1. Not enough places to sit for people, there are three small benches right at the entrance - this park is the opposite of cozy. This can be a problem for elderly people who try to walk in the park who have no where to stop for a break or grab hold of anything for stability. I have seen a few near accidents this way.
2. Not enough shade around the park, there are shaded awnings by two of the benches but if you are sticking with your dog like I do, a few more places to sit and get shade would be great.
3. Hard to find your dogs waste in the strange grass - it pretty much disappears
4. Because of the large size of this park it is common for owners not to pick up after their dog so you may end up stepping in poo like I have
5. Water fountains go on during the day around noon so plan accordingly. Still not sure why they don't water at night like the rest of Vegas
6. No trees whatsoever inside the park - I think a few trees would have made all the difference in this park - trees and benches under the trees. This also plays into the windiness. This park is windy. Wear a jacket if it's cool.
Overall a good park to take your dog. There is a large dog side that is right next to the small dog side. Sometimes little dogs like to assert their fierceness and bark and run alongside the big dogs which is always entertaining.
