Being a guy who enjoys his nature shows and documentary's. It only makes sense for me to visit the country's largest aviary while in Pittsburg. And I can say I didn't know what to expect. But I was impressed by the experience.
They have birds from everywhere here. From penguins& flamingos to eagles and Parrots. I was hoping to see my favorite bird the Harpy Eagle. But unfortunately they didn't have any. That was my only let down of the day however. The birds were mostly able to fly free. The big rooms, with an exception of a couple of big cages for the super small birds they had. They even had birds walking on the floors with you like it was a normal thing! Which was really cool. It also gave me a good feeling knowing the birds had a big area to move around themselves and not having to be caged and cramped in poor conditions.
The place was crowded so be prepared for that if you go. However I didn't get the feeling that I couldn't move or it was overcrowded. There was a good amount of space to move around
I liked the setup of the place. One exhibit almost leads to the other. So it's almost like following a path and you will get to see everything. So you don't really have to turn around and backtrack to see something you might have missed. Everything was mostly streamlined.
I would recommend this place forsure. It's a perfect tourist destination or a family adventure for a day. I can say nothing negative, all the workers were friendly and inviting and my visit went well.
