Something has gone dreadfully wrong at this once great little culinary gem. Wow.
Last night (Sunday, 5:30pm): Painfully long service even though the place was 1/3 full. Beers and margaritas took 15 min to come out from time ordered. Inattentive service by our befuddled waiter, who seemed like he might have had a few joints prior to work. Food (tacos and salad) took 25+ min to arrive from time ordered. As a table we all felt abandoned.
We had invited another couple to join us last night and had been talking up Otro for weeks one of our delicious favorites. The food was fine but frankly maybe a few notches below our many prior visits.
Bottom line: something seems to be "off" at Otro. Someone's not paying attention to the operation. This wasn't just a bad night. We never saw a manager *ever* (at past Otro visits last year, we always had an enthusiastic manager come over to say hello and check on things).
Some people might give Otro the benefit of the doubt - maybe they were just having a rough night. But my guess is that there are big management issues that are spinning at this once great spot. Besides the mesquite wood, something else smells at this place and we will likely not be back, as it's apparent Otro is on decline now. It's a shame.
