| - Just finished my move and i wanted to give an honest review. My experience with WC Movers isnt as bad as some but there still were some problems. Like many said, I would actually recommend to most if feasible to just rent the Uhaul yourself and pay movers on the front and back end to help you load and unload.
I called numerous movers to quote me on a large 3 bedroom move approximately 500 miles. Like many, i received the cheapest quote from WC by $800. What sealed it for me however was Glen the salesman. He was very personable and answered every question with complete confidence and reassurement. Anything i asked for he gave including 3 months free storage in their warehouse. When i brought up the poor reviews on Yelp, he implored me to watch the YouTube reviews as the Yelp reviews were mainly disgruntled ex employees and other lowlifes who were extorting WC for money. He also said they were actively involved in a lawsuit against Yelp for slander. I did an over the phone inventory with Glen and was adament about being completely honest with EVERYTHING i would be shipping as this seemed to be an area of grave concern to him as to why there were so many poor reviews. Mainly people lying about what they really had. Not only did i do this, but a few weeks later i called him back and did another over the phone inventory as to be 100% legit and upfront with what i had. Again, exact same quote.
Fast foward to the moving day. As promised, the movers called the day before to verify there arrival time. So far so good. On the pick up day, 3 movers arrived in a pretty beat up moving truck that actually had to be jump started in my driveway. They went to work and for the most part were very good and personable albeit just a tad bit slow. But no biggie...better slow and careful then fast and haphazard. I had to pay them upfront 50% before they even started which i paid in cash. After the truck was completely loaded i was called outside and told the initial move was now $200 more. The mover explained why and showed me how my load was a full rung longer in his truck and for each rung it was $200. Ok, so i am not pleased but what are you going to do? Your stuff is on the truck, and you have to be out of your place that day. You are caught between a rock and hard place. Calls to the office are futile. No one answers and when they finally do, they completely blow you off and tell you they will investigate when the drivers return. Of course they never do and never contact you again.
Ok, on to the delivery. My actual delivery was set up 2 1/2 months later. Over a month before the date came up, i called to move it up one week. I explained that i was out of my short term apartment and moving into my new home. I explained it was imperative the goods be delivered on this date. No problem they said. Just send them an email with my job # and my new requested delivery date and they would handle everything. Since i was giving them so much notice it would be no problem. Again, they said someone would be contacting me the day before with the approximate time of delivery.
The day before the delivery, i had not heard from anyone at nearly 5pm so as expected i was growing a little concerned. I called the main office and got hold of Ashley who looked up my job # and then quickly explained to me that they have up to a 14 day window to make the delivery. BAM!!! Crap just hit the fan!! After going back and forth for 15 minutes and pleading with her to help me my angst turned in to all out anger. I was then promptly hung up on. At this point i was seriously wondering if i would ever see my stuff again. I was now planning on making a plane trip down and showing up on WC's doorstep the following morning to continue my case in person. Low and behold, my phone rings...its WC and they ask if the day after my scheduled date is ok?? Are you kidding!!! Just get me my damn furniture.
Day of delivery. I get a call that they will make the dropoff at 10am. Two movers show up driving a leased Enterprise truck. They are nice enough and efficient and move all my stuff in while i take inventory. Everything is numbered which helps with the checklist since you will often forget what you have after so many months. I also noticed that most of my furniture was wrapped excellent almost to the point of overkill. Movers took my remaining balance in cash and delivered, unwrapped, and set up quickly. No complaints here except after unwrapping everything i start noticing lots of little stuff missing. Power cords gone from my TV, glass shelves missing from my china hutches, fasteners and screws fallen out and gone from multiple shelving. No big deal you say but a total PITA when you have to start replacing this stuff. Most is custom cut and fitted and not stuff you can just run down to Home Depot and purchase. Hell, even the TV power cord was unavailable locally and had to be procured from Amazon online. No more room for review but overall use at your own risk.
