Never really been to the ship in the afternoon, but I am a fan of the place. Yes it can be overcrowded, yes it can be hard to find a table here, and yes uni/college people can dominate the crowd, but the place has character. From the scarfs of Premiership teams hung on the walls to the fact they stock one of my favourite beers (Boddington's) to a crowd that can be just as diverse than it was homogeneous the night before, this place is simply my first answer to anybody seeking a pub in Calgary. The beer selection is great covering cheap and quality domestics as well as tasty imports. The atmosphere mixes a youthful vibe with that traditional, slightly woodsy, and run-down feel of a pub. The crowd consists of the posh and down to earth, rich and poor and the bold and beautiful. In my opinion it's what a pub should be, a reflection of the community.
