| - I have mixed feelings about this place. Keep in mind this is for the South Taylor location.
On the upside:
- it's a local business, been around since 1931. Impressive.
- anything you need for your bike, they'll probably have it. Convenient.
- decent prices (I compared them to Fridrich's when I bought my bike)
The downside:
- the service.
The friggin' service. That kills it for me. Especially because it's a local business: I expect better (i.e. more personal) service from them. There are a couple of older fellas that are helpful....sometimes. (I'll expound upon this below) But, most of the time, they have a couple of clueless teenagers who can't even muster up enough BS to answer your questions.
Fine, so the kids can't tell me how to stop the front tire from throwing slush & dirt into my face. So I'll ask the manager dude in the back. And this is my anecdote from yesterday:
I tell the kid to find someone who can help me. The manager-guy comes out, surveys the situation, ignores what I have to say, and mumbles something about "you gotta move the splashguard down.... that's the problem."
"Yea, I know. I usually have -"
He cuts me off. "That's the problem. Move it down," he growls as he tries to get back to whatever he was doing in the back.
I try again. "No, wait. I KNOW that. That's not the problem. It's - "
"Hm. yea. Move it down."
You get the picture.
I give them 3 stars because - in spite of yesterday's debacle - I've had mediocre experiences before.
But I'm not going back. I'll learn how to repair my bike myself (via the Bike Co-op).
Punk finches can kiss it.
