  • I had some sort of infection on my finger, last week Friday, that got progressively worse over the course of two days, with red streaking going up my arm indicating an infection in my system, so I went to this place. We arrived around 1030am, signed in and sat down. There were probably 12 people there waiting. When you sign in, you just sign your name and what time it is. Upon waiting for over 1 hour, I saw a sign on the wall that indicated that patients will be seen in order of urgency. Hmmm....I am sitting there wondering if these red streaks up my arm from my wrist to my armpit are indications of possible blood poisoning, and while looking around the room there is a person with a box of tissues (who was called before me), a person with a fever (older woman complaining about the wait), a person with swimmer's ear (really? Swimmer's ear? There are drops for that at Walgreens). So it doesn't appear there is a sense of urgency, but I can't blame the staff really because they call you to the desk to get your symptoms in order of how you came into the building (that took an hour). Maybe that's when priorities are placed on patients? I'm not sure. However, I was there roughly 2.5 hours. It was dreadful, but I needed to get this taken care of. Once assigned to a room, we were advised there were only two doctors on staff today and one of them was on their lunch break so it may be a bit of a wait. Ok. She came in and was not necessarily the nicest person, but I get it, she's there to do her job. We inquired about a couple of things, like possibility of being contagious, can I swim, can I get the wound wet (when showering), is everything I touch going to be infected and our questions were met with disdain. Was it a bug bite? Was it a staph infection? We don't know, and neither did she. The tests she ordered came back negative but there is still this mystery as to what caused my finger to be infected. The antibiotics she prescribed helped the streaking but 6 days later, I still have no clue what is on my finger...it's now healing. I am done w/ urgent care places. Maybe I misinterpreted what they are, thinking it was for something serious enough to not wait for your primary care doctor, but not serious enough for the ER. Oh, also, they're not open 24hrs.
