Several friends have recommended the MercBar to me as one of few Phoenix bars to have more of an East Coast vibe so we finally checked it out last night on a whim. Showed up way early and was greeted by the hostess and bartender - ended up that we were the only customers there at that point. We took a seat at the bar and knew right away the night was going to be great! The bartender, Adam, was awesome from the start...recommended drinks on and off the menu and each one just got better! The drinks are pricey and I was skeptical at first but Adam doesn't joke around - his drinks were incredible; in fact, some of the best I've had in the Valley. We also tried some food - pork tacos, meatballs and the cheese/meat plate. Food was amazing too and so was talking with the chef as he prepared it right at the bar.
The bar was fairly crowded as midnight approached with a mix of people. Atmosphere was relaxed; music was eclectic...felt like I was in Philly again. Great night and would definitely recommend checking the place out if you haven't been yet! I will definitely go back and hopefully Adam will be bar-tending!
