Traveling south On I-57 was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. After reading several reviews about Maize decided we would stop in, the place is located downtown off N Chesnut St.
Was maybe ten minutes east off I 57 via I 74
Really easy to get to. Previous reviews stated the place was small and parking difficult , but I didn't experience that at all. Parked easily in the back of building with clearly marked area for parking also noticed off street parking in front. The restaurant is quaint, clean, and a relaxed atmosphere. The food aMaizing!!!
This is authentic Mexican food made with fresh ingredients. Quality is very evident. Homemade tortillas
Reminded me of the kind my Abuela made in Honduras. You are not gonna find enchiladas and Tex-mex food.
Everything a-la-cart which means you can try a little of everything.
My husband and I had tacos, gordita, and sope each with a variety of meats from chicken to pork and steak .
Each item was delicious and fresh.
If you get a chance stop in you won't regret it
Wish there was one close to my home in southern IL
