Just like the title of a Michael Jackson song, MJ Live is "Bad" not "Bad" meaning bad but bad meaning excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the MJ Tribute concert. One of the dangers of a tribute concert of such a well known celebrity like MJ is that people are well aware of his videos, music and moves. Therefore, a tribute runs the risk of the crowd drawing a comparison between the artist and the impersonator. Here, MJ Live does a great job of entertaining and paying homage to MJ. You think about MJ but you still enjoy the tribute.
Jalles Franca the performer who portrays MJ is backed up by a live band and back up performers. Franca sings a medley of MJ songs while dancing and interacting with the crowd. To call his performance "high energy" is an understatement. He "moon walks," runs across the stage and even goes into the audience all while singing. (I was tired and I was just a spectator) Some reviewers have indicated that his voice is not exactly MJ, but trust me it's close enough along with his high octane performance to be more than entertaining. MJ Live was one of the highlights of my Vegas weekend.
If there are any negatives about MJ Live it's not with the performance. One issue for me was that the venue was cold, which was a bit distracting. And, the food at the Stratosphere Buffet was terrible. ( I went to the buffet after the concert) Finally, the Stratosphere hotel is so far from the Strip that cab fair was a whooping $20.00 one way. ( On the upside had a great conversation with a cab driver who had a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State) I wish the venue was closer to the strip because the cab fair added $40.00 to the price of the concert.
My advice, go to MJ Live you will not regret it.
