My wife and I stayed here the night after our wedding. We called ahead a few weeks and arranged with the front desk for the shuttle to pick us up after the reception that was 6 miles away. I called to confirm the day before and they said the shuttle only goes 5 miles. They couldn't even make a 1 mile exception for our wedding night. We had to take Uber to the hotel. Once we got there... We had to wait 20 minutes for a luggage cart. Thankfully our Uber driver was helpful and went on a search for one as I didn't want to leave my bride outside. Again ... Our UBER driver went on the hunt... Not a staff member from aloft.
Check in was quick. The lady gave us a late night menu with pricing from Lago restaurant downstairs. We ordered pizza and when we got the pizza it was double the price of what was on the sheet printed. When I went down to ask about it, guy at front desk gave us the runaround like we were 4 year olds. Luckily we got someone nice at checkout and worked it out.
The hotel is basic contemporary which was nice. The safe in the room was a huge benefit as we had our wedding cards stashed inside. The bathroom felt like I was in an airplane bathroom. Shower was good pressure and was large.
Beds were comfy and overall room was generally on the small side.
At checkout they charged us $20 for valet parking when we parked ourselves. Luckily I checked the final bill before we got in the car and went back up. He took the charge off but it was still inconvenient and could've easily been passed over if someone isn't paying attention.
Overall it was an OK stay. We took a "mini-moon" in Cleveland after our wedding. The reservation person even put a note that it was our honeymoon. Nothing special was given ... Not that we would've expected, but a free drink or something would've been nice. My wife and I could've picked any other hotel in downtown Cleveland, but we chose aloft for the atmosphere and left feeling like it was a mediocre stay. Not sure I would recommend for special occasions. We've had better service staying at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Cleveland Airport for nearly half the price.
We would maybe give aloft another shot before we mark it off our list of recommendations.
