| - I have to say I didn't really know what to expect when coming to this place. When I first heard of a new tiki bar opening I was a little apprehensive as a lot of concepts that are so unique tend to be over done and fizzle out quickly. I think the great location in Arcadia will contribute to UnderTow's longevity. As mentioned in other reviews, be prepared as they only take reservations. I was unaware and thankfully my girlfriend was able to get us a seat last minute. The hostesses were super accommodating. It was definitely crowded-the place only has 26 seats most of which are around a square, centrally located bar. Thankfully everyone around us was friendly enough to allow us to crowd their space! The place is definitely dark but the vibe was inviting and all of the employees smiled and were very friendly. Watching the bartenders craft the different cocktails was like watching a performance! Everything was so skillfully done and you could taste how much effort was put in to the drinks and the quality ingredients used. My first cocktail was the Pirate's Remorse. It was very unique with guava, Galliano, aged rum of Martinique, honey, vanilla, mace, lime, and nutmeg. I have to admit, at first it was a little bit strong but very smooth and by the second sip I was hooked! The next drink I left up to the bartender who steered me toward the Scallywag's Scandal-which had seven different rums accented by passion fruit, coconut Nola and lime. I think this drink was definitely my favorite of the two and I would highly recommend it. I wanted to stay and try all the different yummy looking cocktails but then what would I use as an excuse to come back? I can't wait to make a return visit! Definitely a new hotspot in Arcadia I'm glad I discovered it.
