| - This place was seriously impressive as you walk in. The ornate ceilings will leave you in awe. However, as you walk up the stairs you're left completely confused as to where you're supposed to go. I'm not sure if I was just still stunned by the beauty of the architecture or if this place was completely packed and disorganized. Probably a little of both.
We grabbed two sandwiches, a salad, coffees, and a chocolate chip cookie. Spent close to $50. You would expect that we would be given plates or perhaps asked if we'd like to have our sandwiches heated but no. And the seating...omg, was a little annoying that we ended up sitting at the bar staring at a guy do dishes.
There seems to be a lot of students just sitting around on their laptops taking up space with not a cup of coffee near them. Sorry dear students. I was once one myself and understand you need an inspiring place to be. But there is an amazing public library in town that also has mind blowing architecture. I get it, though. It's a work space cafe and members have their own area, and the public is given a large area. However, given the popularity of the café, management should really consider reserving key seats to those of us who are wanting to really take in the majesty of the architecture and spending good money. We'll likely spend more money than students and we won't sit there all day. Just something to think about.
My recommendation is bring your own coffee, step inside, take a look around and enjoy the splendor of the building. You probably won't be able to sit anywhere so it will be a short visit. If you are lucky enough to grab a seat, the chocolate chip cookie was really good.
