| - My wife and I have been able to file taxes on our own since our first jobs, so if you didn't catch the second word, we got married in 2014. We also used money from stocks to pay for that wedding and keep us from drowning in student loan debt. She had an idea of what we'd probably end up owing in taxes but when we attempted to file on our own with a simple minded site, it told us we owed $10,960. Um, excuse me while I get the AED.
So at 10:30pm on a Wednesday night, the Misses emailed sapphire with a subject line of "HELP" and before 8am on Thursday, Jonathan responded and said we could meet Saturday morning. He also told us we might have to file for an extension and with the info we emailed, it'd cost about $350. But we walked into the very quiet office Saturday morning, both still trying to figure out how we'd find $11k in 4 days. Tiffany came out and greeted us, read through the W2s, stock papers, student loan forms, oh and I forgot to mention I won 2 jackpots at the casino. As she entered numbers and typed 300 words per minute, she'd smile and ask "you want some good news?" She did that a few times. She explained why our numbers hadn't evened out before and where my wife had missed a few things (don't tell her that). When Tiffany was done she asked if we wanted some REALLY good news; then said after all is said and done, we'll get a little over $100 back after paying state.
We high-fived. Everything is filed so we don't need an extension. And paying Sapphire much less than what was quoted was the cherry on top. Needless to say, I don't have to feed my wife ramen and dust bunnies for the next 6 months.
