  • OVERHYPED and OVERRATED. Yes it's aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Nice greenhouse in the middle, beautiful victorian style furniture mixed in with 1900's industrial style. It's a great addition to someone's photo stream in social media. But it seems the owners or designers have put more emphasis on making this place highly presentable than almost everything else. Parking can be pretty frustrating and adding to the fact that the place has virtually no street signage which made me go around at least four times trying to look for the place and finding parking. TIP: It's inside the big antique wooden doors, if you see those doors from the street that's where it is. While the ceilings are tall it still got pretty stuffy inside. The amount of room they allocated for people lining up to order is sad, by my best guess a mere 12x8 feet. Which meant if you had more than 8 people in line you can be crammed like sardines. Lines were excruciatingly slow, people didn't know what to order because frankly paper menus were only available at the the 1 register counter. If a big group was ahead of you, good luck waiting for that cluster fk to finish. To add another problem, the area where the servers prep the food to bring to the table was also next to people in line. I lost count on the number of times while cramped like a sardine I had to make room for the server. At that point I already wanted to leave but because I was with a group of friends I decided to march on. Ordered the food with no issues. The price on menu items was reasonable. The food and drinks were good. Some of the items like the Lychee Rose cake was a little too fragrant to my liking with almost too airy consistency. In fact most of the deserts in this place has this consistency. If you're looking for deserts to bite on, this place may not have any (except for the green tea bun which I'll talk about in a sec). The Green Tea bun was meh, outer bread was tough and rubbery and barely any red bean inside. The Marble and Strawberry Roulades were exceptional with just the right amount of sweetness and texture. I tend to judge a place by their Tiramisu and I wasn't disappointed with Gabi's version, sweetness, firmness were spot on, texture was a little smooth for a Tiramisu but still gets high marks for it. The Dan Coffee was good. Presentation print was nice, however it came warm not hot. I liked the Caramella espresso very much. As far as seating is concerned, there's good amount of seating around the place but this can easily be overwhelmed by a rush of people. The open seating configuration can be bad at times. I noticed groups of people who didn't order anything occupying high density seating who were there just people-watching. While some groups (like mine) had to steal small tables and chairs around the area to create a makeshift table. This place has tremendous potential, We would certainly try it again if management focused more on alleviating the customer pain points.
