  • If you value your vision, and don't want your eyes to be in worse condition after spending thousands of dollars, stay away!!! My mom got her initial lasik surgery around 2002 or so from another doctor. She was still seeing fine but felt like she needed a touch up, so she went to Siems. We were familiar with them because they did my lasik when I was 18. She had a consultation and informed them that she'd previously had lasik surgery performed by a different doctor. He said he doesn't usually do lasik for people that have already had it from someone else, but he'd do it for her. Red flag #1. She also had to pay extra for this risky allowance. The sales lady was super pushy, bordering on rude, pressuring my mom to sign the contract and purchase surgery. I also accompanied my mom to the procedure so she would have someone to drive her home. There's a waiting room outside of the operating room that displays the procedure on a TV. My mom recorded my surgery, so I also recorded hers. Hers took longer than mine, and it looked like he made a mistake and spent extra time trying to correct it. She was seeing blurry and very drowsy afterwards and fell asleep in the car instantly. She rested, as directed, and we returned for her follow up. She reported that she was having trouble reading - an issue that only appeared after the surgery. He recommended eye drops and time. We returned over the next few months for several follow ups because the problem was persisting, and each time he gave her a different contact to try out so that he could make an "adjustment." When she found one that corrected her issue, he sent us to the sales lady to schedule her "adjustment", where we were informed that she would have to pay an additional amount. This upset us, because the "adjustment" was to fix a mistake he made! Why should she have to pay more money to correct an issue that she shouldn't have in the first place? He made her vision worse, and she's supposed to pay him more money to correct it? The sales lady became very loud and rude, yelling at my mother, so my mother yelled back. Dr. Siems came in and said "What the fuck is going on?!" Extremely disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional for a doctor to speak to a patient like that in the hallway of his practice. They refused to perform the "adjustment" (which is really a correction to a mistake he made) free of charge or issue a refund for his colossal mistake. Naturally, after this experience, she no longer wants him to take any lasers to her eyes - if he messed up when he was trying, who knows what he'll do to her with a chip on his shoulder! So they issued no apology, refund, or complimentary "adjustment", and showed their true colors and how little they care about the quality of their work and well being of their patients. My mom now wears reading glasses. We have the entire thing on video and plan on showing it to another doctor and getting a second opinion. If you're considering lasik, choose a different doctor!!!
