| - I had never tried Caribbean food and was very curious to try it. My fiance and I went in on a Saturday night and the place was pretty empty. The inside of the restaurant was nice but I found the music too loud and it started to give me a headache. When we walked in, I think it was the chef, just stood there and stared at us without asking us if we wanted a table or not, until I asked if they were open. He then said they were and led us to a table, not too friendly but oh well, maybe he had a bad day.
Anyway we were seated at a booth and the menu had some tasty sounding options. We decided to try the Jerk Chicken and it came with rice and you could pick accompanying sides. I believe it was $10 for the chicken and rice and you paid extra for the side(I could be wrong though). The lady working there wasn't very friendly, didn't smile, she took our orders and we didn't wait too long for our food. I ordered the Jerk chicken with rice and a side of fried plantains and my fiance ordered rice and jerk chicken with a side of fries. Our food came but my order was wrong instead of the fried plantains I got a salad. I told the lady about it and she got me my order of plantains without a problem and said I wouldn't be charged for the salad (which since I didn't order was only proper).
My problem was more with the portions than anything else, it was about six or seven sliced plantains for $2.50, thats maybe half a plantain. Bit overpriced for an ingredient that isn't expensive. The jerk chicken was alright, it needed some sort of acidity and maybe something sweet to brighten it but it was not bad. The chicken itself was not cleaned properly and much too fatty for me and it was on the bone. So overall the amount of chicken you paid for was maybe a 1/8 of a cup of chicken.
The saving grace were those plantains , the flavor was delicious but not worth the price.
