  • I love cutesy little stores that offer you large assortments of useless items that you don't need but you buy anyways. That's why I have such a hard time leaving Ivory Parade without spending money on at least one funny but useless item for myself or someone else. The store is easy to miss because it's part of a strip of a couple other stores and services, but you should definitely keep your eyes peeled for it (it's across the street from the "Metro" grocery store on College). They have knick-knacks from toys to books to greeting cards that will usually prompt you to think, "Ah! So-and-so would LOVE this!" and then you'll buy a gift 5 months before so-and-so's birthday. They carry all sorts of fun cards and books and post-its that make gift-buying infinitely easier. Some memorable purchases for me include the "Book of Farts" and the "Porn for Women" book that includes captions of men saying wonderful things like, "You know what, you've had a long day at work, how about we do some shoe-shopping?" I will definitely be stopping by here before Christmas to get some last-minute gifts covered because it's just one of those great places where there's something for everyone. And then you can throw in a few things for yourself, too. Gotta love it.
