I had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Good Food on Monfort. I was on a trip without a rental car, and this was worth every penny I spent on an Uber to get here from my hotel.
First off the staff are first rate all the way through. I was well taken care of in a friendly and welcoming waitress who made great recommendations and explained any menu item I had a question about. The manager was involved in running the floor and made sure that everything was going well throughout the restaurant.
Now let's talk about the most important thing, the food. The meal was simply amazing. I ate way more than I should have and had three very unique and delicious dishes. I started with the steamed pork bun which was first class. The flavors were very traditional and the bun was steamed perfectly. It was much bigger than a regular steamed pork bun so it would be good for sharing.
I then moved to the Prince Edwards Island Mussels. This was served in a green curry coconut sauce that was amazingly flavorful without being too hot or spicy. The flavors of the sauce were amazing and made the perfect backdrop for the steamed mussels that were meaty and out of this world.
Now, this is where I should have stopped but the dinner next to me was from Italy and he could not stop raving about the Garganelli. Now when an Italian is raving about a pasta dish, you really should try it so I did. I understand why he was such a fan. The flavors in the Garganelli were fresh and bursting with complexity. The sausage and the pasta were paired beautifully with the slightly sweet tomato sauce. Mmmmm, it really was great.
I have been contemplating a trip back to Charlotte just to do a food tour because of this restaurant. I was lucky to be eating on a Tuesday night and was able to get a table.
