I just purchased a new Corvette Z06 and the purchase was to include "Earnhardt Value Package" for $857. This package was to include premium window tint and door edge guards. I reluctantly agreed to keep this line item in the contract.
I live 100 miles away from dealership and on drive home noticed no window tint had been installed on car. When I arrived home, I also saw that the contracted door guards were not installed. When I contacted the dealership I was told that my only option was to return the 200 miles round trip and have the dealership inspect the car to see if in fact the tint and door guards had been installed (in plainer language to see if I was lying about their absence). This would take me most of an entire day with travel and wait time to have the items installed. For my trouble, they would fill my gas tank.
I took a day to try and get over my anger at being accused of lying and ultimately decided that I wanted nothing further to do with Earnhardt CHEVROLET. While it was no small matter to forfeit $857 for nothing, under no circumstances am I willing to do any more business with an organization that treats a customer like Earnhardt! The only thing I would ever accept would be the return of my funds for services that were never performed!
Update: After filing my complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Arizona, the dealership apologized and refunded my money. While I am satisfied with the ultimate outcome, it shouldn't have taken this much effort to get back money for services that were never performed.
