We are very fortunate in Charlotte to have such a nice airport. Even when I'm anxiety-ridden and sweaty getting myself to the airport and through security, the large atrium with its trees and white rocking chairs always calms me down.
There have been many improvements to Charlotte Douglas in recent years, including a few restaurants and bars that feel pleasant and inviting instead of like you're settling for a quick, overpriced meal. Market 1897 is a delightful stop to pause and explore, whether or not you choose to dine there.
I'm excited to see the coming additions to our airport, and I'm looking forward to seeing our Queen Charlotte statue back where she belongs once construction is complete.
I went with 5 stars for Charlotte Douglas because as far as airports go, it ranks very high for me in terms of comfort and accessibility. Airports are inherently stressful and busy, but CLT pulls it off with grace.
