  • We were super early for our check-in but the staff was kind enough to lend us the "public" key to the rooftop where we lounged away a couple of hours in the last bit of warm sunshine available. (This was Labor Day wknd so I'm sure it's gotten a bit chillier out since then.) It's a great area up there, with lovely views of the city, and lots of available, clean, lounges. Throughout our stay the staff was congenial and accommodating and the valet guys were fun to chat with. The room itself, however, was only ok (we had a King Suite). What we liked: A decent amount of room for a hotel downtown. The sink / microwave / teeny-tiny stove was a nice touch for a couple who were spending 10 days away from home and had things like a CPAP machine to clean/take care of while on vacation. The bed was also decently comfy. The room service food is pretty damn good - especially their dinners. One night the bf and I tried the BBQ Chicken with a jalapeño hoe cake, grilled corn on the cob and jicama slaw...drool-worthy. Seriously drool-worthy. I would eat that again in a heartbeat. Buffet breakfast is ok. Nothing to rave about but definitely edible. Free WiFi, if I remember correctly. A rare and nice touch that is much appreciated! Gym looked spacious and nice with good equipment. What we didn't like: The couch in our room was worn and seemed dirty, ensuring that we only sat there when necessary. The room itself was showing its age, though it IS an older hotel. It could use a fresh coat of paint and a couple new couches here and there...even the lobby couches could stand to use some TLC. Also, there's no On-Demand on their TVs (you know, if you like traveling outside of your native country to a major city only to spend the night in a hotel room ordering over-priced movies you could have seen 3 months ago at home). There is, however, a DVD player and you can...umm...rent movies at the front desk or something. Cute...quaint... Not too bad a stay if you don't mind older places. Neighborhood can be a bit skeevy...I think our room overlooked some prosty/ripper-hotel which got a good laugh out of both of us. Despite the skeevy-ness, it was safe enough to walk around in during the daytime.
