  • This was not my first visit to the Herr's tour and it definitely will not be my last. The tour starts with a short movie about the history. Than you get to tour several buildings to see the process on how chips are made, packaged and shipped. Depending on when you are there they can be making any number of type of chips. During the tour they let you sample fresh hot chips. If you have never had them you will really be in for a pleasant surprise. At the end of the tour they give you a free small sample bag of chips. Before you leave you have to go through the gift shop. Many different types of things including oops chips which are very cheap. I have had small children in there and it keeps their attention. Depending there can be times when there are school bus tours. They have changed their policy and you know need to make reservations either on line or on the phone. I do not think they allow walkups any more. problem with making reservations is since I do this on vacation I am not sure exactly what time I can get there, so I almost have to plan everything else around that. If it wasn't for that it would be perfect. Besides that everything else is great. Plus as of now the tour is still free whereas almost every other one in the area charges.
