| - I came in with a few complaints - Being a new customer, I did not know what to expect but have heard good things about Dave's so I decided to give them a try since my old shop had slid in quality over the last few years.
What I am impressed with is that the Technician found an exhaust leak I KNEW and could hear was coming from the manifold that everyone else said they couldn't hear. Anyways, it was on the more subtle side, but it was there. I had the exhaust gaskets changed elsewhere to try and fix this, but it curiously got louder instead. Apparently, the technician found the bolts were not torqued down or tightened where they should have been. I find this very interesting because the other shop I have been using for 12 years, Advanced Goodyear on 67th, told me they were tight. Another shop could also not find the leak. The mechanic, Cesar, could not hear it either - but he did something no one else took the time to do - he took a mechanics stethoscope, to the manifold to double-check, and he found the leak. Once those bolts got tightened properly, I hear nothing now. What a relief! It's amazing something so simple was overlooked by others, or just plain ignored.
What also scared the hell out of me, was when the mechanic was on a test drive, the front left caliper came loose. I recently had those calipers changed by one mechanic, and bled by another, so I am unsure of who is to blame for not tightening the bolts. However, this could have very well have gotten me killed and I thank the Lord greatly I got it into Dave's shop when I did, and also am very thankful for the mechanic too and he was only in the turn lane at the shopping center there going slow when it happened.
The shuttle service is a must for me also to get to and from home, and the loaner car for extended repairs. THIS IS WHAT SERVICE SHOULD BE. They have a thriving business for a good reason!
