| - Art museums are bastions of strange art fused with conventional. I'm not an art expert but I enjoy checking them out. Artists are often a weird bunch, and it's nice to see that brought into forums like this for us to see. While visiting in April, I went upstairs to see what appeared to be strands of blackened/burned wood hanging from string from the ceiling. Visually it was just stunning. It's surreal. It's weird, it's great! My main draw here was free admission (Wednesday, yeah!). I can't pretend to understand most art or to interpret. I just know what I like and what I see. This particular moment in time there was a show of paintings by a Native American, Fritz Scholder, who seemed to thrive off controversy (his Wounded Knee portrait, bleak, simple, stunning).
My dad and I spent $8 each and checked out a wonderful display of very rare baseball cards- 42 of them- on display for a short time only to coincide with the start of the baseball season. Standing in the presence of near mint cards of Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Shoeless Joe Jackson, made me love this museum. I'll enjoy coming back to see more of their art.
