| - 3.5 I'd say. Pretty good, something went well and some things fell short. Price is a bit high. Service came by frequently and was helpful with questions. Always desired more frequent water refills though personally. If you come by less, just give bigger glasses or leave something at the table.
The meal started with some drinks as well as a bread plate. It would've been nifty to get more bread honestly. The brioche were good though, and the salt and pepper with the butter was nifty.
I had ordered the american rib cap medium rare, compatriots had ordered the beef wellington and the 32oz porter. For side we had gotten the sauteed spinach, the mac n cheese, a loaded potato, curry cauliflower, and the mushroom chimichurri. The rib cap was cooked correctly, the sauce semi sweet playing well off of the mustard seeds. The curry cauliflower was decent, it came out dry but the sauce at the bottom had good flavor and mixed well with the raisins in the dish. The sauteed spinach was decent, cooked well no wow. The mac n cheese wasn't too salty but had way too much truffle oil which made it incredibly rich. The loaded potato was what you'd expect from an average steakhouse. Nothing different really. Tried the beef wellington and the porter friends had. Cooked to temp, still needed flavor though which accounts for all the sauces you can order. The porter had a good crust on the outside which was nice though and added some inherent flavor.
Overall aside from the potato, everything felt pretty small for the cost. The chimichurri was probably the best thing that I liked on the table though, I'd throw that on everything which I did.
Overall, it felt overpriced to me. It was nice to experience but I will try other places before returning.
