  • Despite popular belief business travel is most often brutal and things happen. It is not disputed that the Tempe Hilton Garden Inn is the repository for American Airlines passengers whose flights have been delayed and are stuck in Phoenix. I will not distract from my review with details of how I ended up here or why. The fact is that I have enough miles, stays, titles and affinity qualifications to be treated like royalty wherever I go. That's not the point because everyone should be treated equally and those who travel frequently enough should know how to manage for themselves. On the other hand by now it's pretty clear that I have zero tolerance for poor service or nonsense. By the time I got here I had been put through enough throughout the day to justify the fact I was a flame breathing dragon. The first person who I encountered, other than the excellent shuttle driver, was Adrian who is the Night Manager. The fact is that things happen when you travel, and how it's dealt with defines who you are. Adrian had no idea who I was other than another guest sent to his hotel who had experienced difficulty. He considerately listened to me and then kicked into gear. Adrian was genuinely sorry for what had happened . That fact and his disarming personality somehow instantly brought my perspective back and made me forget how tired hungry, frustrated and aggravated I was. Moving beyond Adriana's outstanding customer service - the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are well appointed and exceptionally clean. The restaurant's food is excellent and extremely affordable. I had a prime rib dinner that I could not finish for under $15. The meet was great. Whether your stuck in Phoenix and sent here by American Airlines or looking for a home base while in Phoenix or Tempe area this is the spot to visit!
