| - I recently moved to the area and was excited about using a local business for my dog's grooming needs. I am so incredibly disappointed with my decision to go to Urban Dog and it is something I will regret for a VERY long time. I am not one to right a review or start conformation, but I would hate it if someone else made the same mistake.
My dog is a rescue with an abusive past. He is very timid and mellow, but extremely sweet. When I dropped him off I spoke with a man at the front desk about how I would want him trimmed, I even showed him a picture of how short I would like him to go. My appointment was at 10:30 a.m. and he told me that he should be done no later than 1 p.m. I called at 1:30 p.m. when I did not hear anything from him and I was told that it would be another hour due to an increase of business. This confused me considering I made an appointment two weeks in advance, but whatever things happen.
When I came to pick my dog up he was still in the back. I noticed that the dogs that were kenneled to my right were shaking their cages and it dawned on me that there were only 2 people working there at that moment. How could they possible do the grooming, day care and kenneling properly? Well I can say that they cannot do the grooming properly.
My dog came out practically bald and basically looking like a rat. It kinda of made me giggle, and I didn't want to be offensive so I didn't respond to it. the man gave me the run down, I paid and then as a side note he said "Oh by the way, we nicked him under his leg," and he quickly showed me the cut. I looked at it closer when I returned home and realized that this WAS NOT a cut. This was a gauge. I've never seen my dog so afraid when the man came over to pick him up. I was horrified. The gauge is in an area that there wasn't even hair!!!! At closer inspection he has cuts all over his body. My boyfriend returned to Urban Dog to ask for the money back and the man refused and blamed my dog for the injury. I am not lying when I tell you that my dog would not jump around a grooming table and all of his past groomers have ALWAYS told me how well behaved he was. I am so devastated that this could happen to an animal that has already been through so much. I'm not exaggerating when I say that stitches may be required and that I have a vet appointment is scheduled for today.
I understand that dogs get nicked, it has happened before. But this was not a scratch.. this is a hole that only a sharp blade could create. But why use that on the bare skin of my dog's underbelly? It seemed like a rushed, careless job that unfortunately has left my sweet dog terrified of humans again.
PLEASE do not use this place for grooming.
