I was looking for a new salon or barber after getting some rushed through poorly done cuts at cheaper places around town. I used to go to more expensive salons for cuts but the price was hard to keep up with and even there I wasn't too happy with the haircuts at times. You also had to schedule far in advance and couldn't come in over a work lunch or break.
Stumbled across Dick & Arnie's on Yelp and am definitely a big fan! Nice old school place with the original barber chairs (reupholstered), and the type of care and charm you'd expect from a vintage barbershop. Dick was there at the time but was busy with another cut so I got mine done by Ali. She did a great job, was easy to talk through what I needed even with me not being terribly helpful (I don't always remember everything when it comes to this stuff). She took a lot of time to do the cut, carefully going over areas and the end result was exactly what I wanted.
Price was nice too, only $16 for their standard haircut which is pretty much on par with the cheapo places around town but infinite more value here. My only qualm with Dick & Arnie's is that they accept cash or check only so be aware of that before making a visit. I fortunately had some on me but it didn't sound like an ATM was terribly close and in 2014 I'd much prefer to use a card. Other than that, highly recommend and I will be making a return visit
