  • I try my best to avoid Crescent St if I can help myself because it tends to be overcrowded with tourist traps and bars that appeal more to the eighteen year olds who are new to the bar scene and just want to get drunk. That being said I found myself invited to a fundraising event at Thursday's recently so I ventured down there for a night out. There are two floors to Thursday's. The first floor is the bar area while the top floor is more of a restaurant. Music in the bar area was too loud in my opinion. You're constantly screaming to be able to have a decent conversation which is something that frustrates me a bit. If there was a dance floor I might have been a little more understanding but there wasn't. The drinks are what you could expect from any bar. They have a decent variety of beers on tap such as Rickard's Red which is fine when microbrews aren't available. The prices weren't too bad but then again since it was a fundraiser I believe we were being given special prices. A glass of house wine was $4 but I have to admit that I got what I paid for in that it wasn't very good. The menu is what you expect from a bar: burgers, nachos, sandwiches, wings, etc. I was really full from a massive lunch earlier so I just had a French onion soup. The salt in the broth was overpowering and that was all you could really taste. It also meant that I was dying of thirst later. While it certainly is conveniently located I do believe that you can get much better experiences elsewhere. Everything about the experience left me feeling underwhelmed and I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon.
