  • I've been here for two appointments. The first, I waited for 35 minutes to be called back. The wait wasn't horrible after I got into the room. The nurse was very nice (I believe her name is Michelle). After this visit I was given some overnight lab tests to bring home (with little to no instructions, most places give you a comprehensive fact/instruction sheet for take home labs). Good thing I googled, there were a lot of things I would have done incorrectly. Way to go nursing staff. Upon returning to drop off my test (I called when they opened at 8am to confirm, but they didn't answer the phone until 8:08). I came in five minutes after calling to drop off my lab samples and have another lab test (my doctor did the "scheduling"). The front desk just said to head back to the lab. I went back and gave my samples to a nurse and told her which test I was here for. She came back a couple minutes later, kind of confused and had to double check the orders since "she wasn't my doctor's nurse". After a total of 40 minutes of waiting, I went back to the lab to investigate (by now everyone in front of me in the waiting room had went, now I'm thinking they forgot about me). I asked a nurse in the area of the lab about the wait, and she went to find someone to help me. 15 minutes later, another nurse came by and said my lab test would be ready in "two seconds". 10 minutes later I walked back to the lab again. I finally found the only guy working in the lab, and he hadn't even heard I was waiting (after talking to three different nurses in his area). Or that my refrigeration-necessary samples were just sitting in the sink for the previous hour+ (the nurse that accepted my samples, left them sitting in a sink, and wandered away for 40 minutes- it just keeps getting better!). Another nurse then gave him the supplies for my lab test, which were the wrong dosage, so he also caught that and corrected the problem, which I really appreciate. I gave Lakeside two stars for being seemingly easy to make an appointment, and the lab guy did his job well, and was nice. The lab however, is not operated by Lakeside, he's a contract lab tech (although I can't remember the name of the lab company). The actual Lakeside staff doesn't appear to know the difference between up and down, or cares if you wait for hours. They couldn't understand why I was irritated for the hour delay of my three hour test. The explanation of why I waited so long was blamed on the receptionist for checking me in under "appointments" versus "lab work"....which is totally impossible, I only got directions to the lab from the receptionist. She wouldn't have had any idea what my name even was. This is a badly organized clinic, extremely poor communication between staff, and apparently they have a "new" computer system no one is able to run. I don't know how "new" it is, but I would guess the issues originate from User Error judging from the five hours I've spent in this building. I have worked in hospitals and clinics for years, and I will NEVER return here- its a poorly run HMO style clinic where the staff is more akin to chickens with their heads cut off than healthcare professionals. It'd probably be great if you had a sick child with a common illness that needed to get in quickly, but if you need any diagnostics or have a mystery problem, find another doctor in a smaller clinic. They do have Urgent Care though, which I didn't visit, but thats a nice option to know about.
