First of all... if you have abdominal pain, then go to the ER. Chances are, the PA here (or at any other location) will see you and then tell you that you have to go to the ER.
My friend cut her finger and needed stitches because it was bleeding so much. We yelped an urgent care center close to school and found this one. I was hesitant to come here, but it was an emergency.
Waiting area was clean, lots of seats and nicely decorated. Bathroom located towards the back was also clean.
There were 5 people ahead of us when we came and the whole process took about 2 and a half hours. The front desk and MA who helped us out in the room were both extremely nice. There were only a few pages of paperwork to fill out.
The MA had my friend soak her finger in some solution while she waited for the PA. The PA came in and took a look at her finger and said she needed an x-ray in case there was still glass present that he couldn't see. X-rays came back fine and then he proceeded to use "sterile" technique to stitch her finger. He seemed like he had no idea where everything was in the room and even stated that "all rooms are different." That made my friend VERY nervous. He did not close the door before he started and the MA had to close it for him.
We are both nursing students so we paid close attention to him and lets just say we were not taught that way in class. He said he was going to use a nerve blocker so he injected it in her finger 4 times. She almost kicked me in the face from the pain. After he stitched her up, he left and said the MA would clean it up... which makes sense because there were a few more people waiting. My friend and I asked him about pain medication and he said she should be fine and that he's had quite a few stitches in the past and he was fine. One thing that we learned in nursing school is that you're not supposed to be comparing the way you feel/felt with your patient because everyone is DIFFERENT and everyone tolerates pain differently! He told her some ibuprofen should be fine, and luckily for her it was!
