  • Last year we went to the original Jaleo in Washington D.C. It was one of our best eating experiences in the city so when we heard Jose Andreas had opened another one in Las Vegas we had to go. Unfortunately the first time we went our favorite dish was not offered during lunch so we left. Six months later we made a return and were not disappointed this time. Jaleo serves tapas style dishes which means the servings are small and several orders should be made for each person to be full. The menu is huge with chesses, salads, meats, etc. there is plenty to pick from. Hands down this is their best dish: Croquetas de pollo These are fried fritters with creamy chicken inside served in a shoe that shows Andreas' playful spirit. Once you have these you will ask for another and another serving they are that delicious. We also had Patatas Bravas which are small slices of potato with aioli on top and a tomato sauce on the bottom. Chistorra envuelta en patata frita which were slightly spicey chorize sausages wrapped in a crispy potato skin. Cana de cabra con higos which were red peppers stuffed with goat cheese with a jam. I have to say the cheese was a bit bitter on this one. Finally we finished with Pollo a la parrilla con queso Valdeón y mostaza which was a perfectly grilled piece of chicken with a nice mix of herbs, mustard and lemon The sauce was delicious and the lemon added a nice citrus taste as well. The Las Vegas Jaleo showed that there is great quality control as it tasted just as good as the Washington D.C. branch. We would gladly go again and again just for those chicken fritters.
