| - My experience was better than Jacksons (aka Danny's Family). I received a coupon in the Wednesday "junk" mail offering a FULL SERVICE wash for $9.99 ($10). I went on a Sunday afternoon at 12 noon. There was no waiting, there was no attempt to "upsell" anything. I showed the service writer my coupon and that was the full extent of the conversation.
This is a former "Danny's Family" car wash (now Jacksons) which is located next to the old Dickies BBQ near Scottsdale and Shea so the building interior and exterior are both exceptional.
This Genie location is kept in better condition than the Jacksons car wash on Tatum/Cactus which is where I normally go. The waterfalls and streams are cleaner, the landscape is nicer, the fish tank inside is actually full of large healthy fish, etc... etc.... Everything was nicer.
For the car wash: The "pre wash" detailing was significantly better than the service I typically receive at Jacksons. Genie Car Wash gives their employees a 6 foot long bristle / brush so they can reach the entire windshield, front bumper and top of your vehicle while standing on the side. They spent considerable time prewashing the windshield, front bumper and headlights to get all the bugs off. It made me wonder why all other car wash shops don't have these long 6 foot brushes since it makes the employees job 10x easier and faster.
They used a separate 2 foot bristle brush on the rims and worked inside all the spokes to get the brake dust off. They then proceeded to "prewash" the entire car by hand before running it thru the automatic machine tunnel. In terms of speed, the car in front of mine had already run thru the entire automatic tunnel before they hit the start button to send mine thru. This is different than Jacksons (Dannys Family) and Cobbblestone where they tend to run cars thru bumper to bumper and spend almost no time on a pre wash detail. So I have to give Genie 5 stars for a much more detailed "pre-wash" routine.
Post wash detail was just as good. All the windows were perfect inside and out. The vacuum and interior cleaning was spot on for a $10 wash. They did not open the trunk (either to vacuum or to dry). I am not sure if this is standard. Other Yelp reviews mentioned theft so I left my firearm in the glove box and watched them the entire time. No one attempted to access the glove box and my firearm remained in place. However, it goes without saying that you don't leave anything of value in your center console or glove box when you give your vehicle to anyone (auto dealer, valet, car wash).
Overall, I try to write a positive review for every negative review and Genie certainly earned a full 5 stars. For $10, this is the better than Cobblestone and Jacksons. The normal prices quoted by the cashier are as follows:
$15 (14.99) - Full Service :: $19 - Works :: $22 VIP :: $28 Royal
I would like to add that without any prompting from myself, the girl doing the final drying spent almost 4 minutes removing dried gum from the front side panel that Jacksons has been unable to remove for over a year. This is where some idiot throws gum onto the road and you run it over. It's a pain to get off.
I will definitely go back again as I have another $4 off coupon. If the service received is vastly different, I will update this review. Give them a try. I was worried about all the negative reviews but I personally experienced 5 star service.
