| - We found the perfect car online. It was located at Mark Kia. We called and scheduled an appointment to test drive the car. Frank met us at the parking lot with a big friendly greeting. He quickly handed us over to Danny because his mom was there to buy a car. Danny, while less experienced, did a good job with the test drive and talking up the car. We didn't need much of a sales pitch, because we already knew what we wanted. It was the perfect match for us.
As we tell Danny that we will take the car, we tell him that we are already pre-approved through our credit union. HE DIDN'T CARE! He said that they still need to run our credit and check their over 25 banks because they might be able to beat our rate. We want the vehicle, so we said okay, whatever it takes to get us out of here. Three hours later, we meet with Kenn, the finance guy, who was very professional. We sign all the documents and finally drive our new car home after closing time.
The next day we followed up with our bank and they told us they would take care of notifying the dealership. We returned to the dealership within 24 hours to get a new purchase order for our bank. Kenn was, again, very polite and professional. Mark Kia received our bank's check and cashed it the following week.
Fast forward three weeks from when we bought the car, we receive a voicemail from Kenn letting us know that he will be sending us the check from the bank they found to finance us so that we can endorse it and send it back to this other bank. Kenn claimed that our bank did not notify them that they were financing the car and to cancel the other loan. So, we now have two car loans in our name for the same car! They have added more debt to our credit report.
I believe this error is on Mark Kia. I now have to pay off a loan plus interest that I thought was canceled. If they would have listened to me in the first place, when I told them we were already pre-approved, this could have been avoided.
