  • Bought a smart Sony TV in June 2016 with a 4-year warranty. Two nights ago screen made a crackling sound and then 100's of pixels showed up on the screen. We called Cox our cable provider to make certain our contour box was not misbehaving. Was told everything looked fine. We put a DVD in and still the pixels so we knew it was the TV. Took it back yesterday morning and was told by customer service our warranty did not cover accidents. I had no idea what they meant by accidents and when asked they replied...let's say if you got made at a football game loss and you threw a football or the remote at your screen. I was shocked at even the suggestion. I told them in no uncertain words that did not happen. They disagreed. Got a hold of their Sony expert and he said he saw an indentation on the screen. I asked how would that have happened. He was unsure. I asked if something had exploded inside the TV would that an indentation as there were no markings on the screen. He said he did not know. In summary, Best Buy would not honor the warranty contract. The were only willing to give us back $95.00 on a purchase of over $700.00. When I repeated myself about watching TV and hearing and immediately seeing the pixels fell upon death ears. So, my buying days at Best Buy are over. I was prepared to buy a computer today at Best Buy but me think not. The customer seems to be always wrong at Best Buy.
