  • One night, my boyfriend and I was craving something warm. We decided to try Origination Noodle at the Silver Star Blvd since it was close by and noodle-based. Based on the ordering method and menu, I would say it competed directly against Deer Garden which was within the same plaza. Origination Noodle serves Chinese noodles and appetizers catered towards the Yunnan province cuisine. However, the concept of ordering is still very modern and very similar to it's neighbouring competitor, where you tick and pick on a piece of paper what broth you want, toppings, and the type of noodle. I ordered a bowl of rice noodles with the Yunnan classic broth (minced pork), adding the additional beef and red sausage (2 toppings for free). Similarly, my boyfriend got a bowl of noodles with the same toppings but in the mushroom and chicken broth. Each bowl is priced at $8.90 if you don't add additional toppings. Their noodle portion is huge! I almost couldn't finish everything as they are quite generous with their noodles. What I liked about this restaurant is how you can actually see the various contents inside your bowl of what was ordered, in comparison to other mix-and-match noodle joints. Secondly, the Yunnan broth has a hint of sourness to it, which helps enlighten my taste buds and eat a bit more. I would recommend my pick if you don't mind a stronger soup base. Once your noodles are served, they generally would roll over a cart full of ingredients you can add into your noodles - from spring onion, garlic bits to chili sauce, peanut bits and cucumber slices. As a side dish, we also ordered the Golden Fried Milk appetizer. I haven't had this dish since when I was small back in Hong Kong, so I was surprised Origination serves it! It came in a little basket and looked like deep-fried spring rolls. The appetizer came with four rolls, slightly expensive for $4.99. Nevertheless, it tasted delicious and texture inside was quite smooth with a kick of sweetness. I would totally visit again just for the fried milk! Overall service was great too. They provide free noodle refills, select noodles come with a free bowl of soup, and if you share their food on social media, they will also give you a free bowl of green bean sweet soup (dessert). Don't forget to check out their restaurant decor too! I found it simple yet pretty/quirky.
